Character background and lore

Frank Castle is a former soldier who became a vigilante following the murder of his family. Deeply scarred by this tragedy, he abandoned traditional legal channels and embarked on a personal war against organised crime under the identity of the Punisher.

Unlike many Marvel heroes, Frank Castle possesses no supernatural powers. He relies on his military training, his mastery of weapons, his tactical skills and his ability to plan his operations meticulously. His combat experience makes him particularly dangerous, even when facing physically stronger opponents.

His radical methods regularly bring him into conflict with Spider-Man, Daredevil and other heroes who refuse to kill their enemies. Frank, however, believes that the most dangerous criminals cannot always be permanently stopped through legal channels.

The white skull he wears on his chest serves to intimidate his opponents and draw fire towards the best-protected areas of his gear. Over time, this emblem has become inextricably linked with the Punisher and his uncompromising fight against criminal organisations.
