Mash Burnedead is the central protagonist of Mashle, a fantasy world where social status is determined entirely by the ability to use magic. Born without a single magical mark on his face, Mash is condemned to be eliminated if he is discovered. Raised in secret deep in the woods by his adoptive father, he spends his days lifting huge weights and wolfing down cream puffs, developing superhuman physical strength capable of breaking spells with his bare hands. Forced to enrol at Easton's Academy of Magic, he must earn the title of Divine Chosen by passing off his muscles as magic so that he can live in peace.
