Build the legendary Rathalos, the true ‘King of the Skies’ from Monster Hunter, with this spectacular PLAfig. model kit No. PF-05 from Aoshima. This model recreates the famous wyvern in a particularly dynamic static pose, directly inspired by its iconic movements in the games.

The model has been sculpted from a prototype created by Shuzo Kanimushi, with particular attention paid to Rathalos’s organic anatomy. Its outstretched wings, menacing head, claws and long tail are reproduced with a level of detail designed to preserve the monster’s full visual power once the kit is assembled.

Once assembled, Rathalos stands approximately 16.5 cm tall and has an impressive width of around 21 cm. The kit is offered at an undefined scale and uses polystyrene (PS) parts. Aoshima has designed the separation of the various parts to simplify assembly whilst preserving the creature’s biological details and characteristic proportions.

A specially designed base is also included with the model to enhance its spectacular pose. The set is presented in a box illustrated by TAKA-F, featuring an original illustration created specifically for this product.

Origin and lore of the monster

Rathalos is one of the most iconic monsters in the entire Monster Hunter franchise. A fixture since the series’ inception, this powerful flying wyvern is often dubbed the ‘King of the Skies’, a title that perfectly reflects its mastery of aerial combat and its territorial behaviour. Capcom officially describes it as a particularly menacing and fiercely territorial wyvern.

Rathalos primarily uses its large wings to dominate its opponents from the air. It can swoop down on hunters with its talons, perform powerful dive attacks and hurl fireballs to control the battlefield from a distance.

His body is covered in distinctive red scales that give him an instantly recognisable silhouette. His claws and aerial abilities make him a particularly dangerous opponent, capable of switching rapidly from ground combat to an attack from the air.

Over the course of the various instalments, Rathalos has become one of the true icons of Monster Hunter, appearing regularly in the franchise’s games, promotional artwork and merchandise.
