Character background and universe

My Dress-Up Darling follows Wakana Gojo, a secondary school pupil with a passion for making traditional hina dolls, and Marin Kitagawa, an outgoing classmate who dreams of embodying her favourite characters through cosplay.

After discovering Gojo’s sewing skills, Marin asks him to help her create a costume for Shizuku Kuroe, a character from the fictional game Saint Slippery’s Academy for Girls. This first project marks the start of their collaboration and plays a key role in the development of their relationship.

The School Festival version refers to a moment when Marin reprises this cosplay as part of her school’s festival. Her dedication to the character, her passion for the performance and the attention paid to every detail of the costume perfectly illustrate her sincere love of cosplay.
