Origin and background of the characters

In One Piece, the Seven Great Pirates, also known as the Shichibukai, are powerful pirates who have entered into an agreement with the World Government. In exchange for certain privileges and relative freedom of action, they must comply with the authorities’ demands.

This group has notably included characters such as Dracule Mihawk, Boa Hancock, Bartholomew Kuma, Crocodile, Gecko Moria and Don Quixote Doflamingo. Its composition changes as the story progresses, and several of its members play a major role in Luffy’s journey.

The Four Emperors, or Yonko, are among the most powerful pirates in the world. They rule over vast territories in the New World and possess considerable crews, allies and influence.
