Origin and world of the character
The character of Buggy the Clown is one of the most recurring, iconic and atypical pirates in the hit manga and animated series One Piece, created by mangaka Eiichiro Oda in 1997. A former ship's boy on the legendary Gol D. Roger's legendary ship alongside Shanks the Red, Buggy accidentally ate the Paramecia demon fruit known as the Fragmentation Fruit (Bara Bara no Mi). This power allows him to separate different parts of his body and levitate them independently, rendering him completely impervious to sword attacks. Although he initially stood out as a cowardly, greedy and vengeful antagonist in the East Blue Sea, his innate ability to find himself involved in historic events - such as the great escape from Impel Down prison or the Battle of Marineford - coupled with huge misunderstandings on the part of his subordinates, propelled him to the most prestigious heights of world piracy.
