In theOne Piece universe, Gloriosa (commonly known as Elder Nyon in modern times) is a former Empress of Amazon Lily and the former leader of the Kuja warrior tribe. Having left her post and her island decades earlier to survive the ‘disease of love’ that afflicts the sovereigns of her lineage, she accumulated significant geopolitical knowledge of the outside world before returning to serve as an advisor to Boa Hancock.
