Origin and world of the character

Monkey D. Dragon is a major character from the manga and animated adaptation One Piece, the seminal work created by Eiichiro Oda. Known as "Dragon the Revolutionary", he is the most wanted man in the world by the World Government. He is the supreme leader of the Revolutionary Army, a paramilitary organisation whose aim is to overthrow the world order established by the Celestial Dragons (the World Nobles). On the family front, Dragon has close links with other major figures in the world of piracy: he is the son of the famous Navy vice-admiral Monkey D. Garp, as well as the biological father of the story's main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. The character is visually characterised by his long dark coat and a distinctive red geometric tattoo on the left side of his face.
