Origin and world of the character (Lore)Introduced during the Thriller Bark arc in the One Piece series created by Eiichiro Oda, Brook - nicknamed "the Fredonneur" - is the official musician and one of the fencers of the Straw Hat Crew. A former member of the Pirates of Rumbar who died fifty years earlier, he owes his survival to the powers of Yomi Yomi no Mi (Fruit of Resurrection), a Paramecia demon fruit that allows the soul of its user to return to its corporeal body after death. It took a year for his soul to return to its ghost ship in the Florian Triangle, so all that remained of him was a skeleton. A gifted musician who can use his violin and piano melodies to put his opponents to sleep or hypnotise them, he also wields a sword concealed in his walking stick (Shikomizue), infusing it with the icy cold of the realm of the dead.
