Origin and world of the character
The character of Roronoa Zoro was the very first companion to join Monkey D. Luffy in the hit manga and animated series One Piece, created by mangaka Eiichiro Oda in 1997. A dreaded former bounty hunter on the East Blue Sea, Zoro has forged a legendary reputation thanks to his unique fighting style: Santoryu(the three-sword style), which involves wielding a blade in each hand and a third firmly clenched between his teeth. Driven by an iron will and unshakeable loyalty to his captain, he trains relentlessly to fulfil a sacred childhood promise: to defeat the Corsair Mihawk and claim the supreme title of World's Greatest Swordsman. His disastrous sense of direction, battle scars and raw charisma make him one of the most beloved pillars of shōnen culture.
