Narrative context and universe (Lore)

In theOne Piece universe, Trafalgar D. Water Law, nicknamed the ‘Surgeon of Death’, is the captain and doctor of the Heart Pirates, as well as a former member of the Grand Pirates. Descended from the secret lineage of the ‘D.’ bearers, he has distinguished himself as a major strategic figure of the ‘Worst Generation’ by orchestrating the pirate alliance aimed at overthrowing the Sea Emperors Don Quixote Doflamingo, Kaido and Charlotte Linlin.

His physical and medical abilities stem from the properties of theOpe Ope no Mi(Surgical Knife) Devil Fruit. This Paramecia-type fruit grants him the power to generate a translucent sphere of space known as‘Room’. Within this zone, Law can manipulate matter at a surgical level, allowing him to segment, teleport or reassemble bodies and objects without causing immediate fatal injury, a skill he combines with the use of his long cursed sword namedKikoku.
