Character background and lore

Usopp is the sharpshooter ofthe Straw Hat crew. Originally from Syrup Village in the East Blue, he grew up dreaming of one day becoming a true brave warrior of the seas, just like his father Yasopp, himself a sharpshooter in Shanks the Red’s crew.

Before setting sail, Usopp was best known in his village for his lies and outlandish tales. When Captain Kuro was secretly planning an attack on the village, nobody believed his warnings because of his reputation. He therefore decided to defend the villagers himself, alongside Luffy and his crewmates. Following these events, he officially joins the crew to pursue his dream.

Usopp does not possess the superhuman physical strength of some of his companions, but he more than makes up for this with his exceptional marksmanship. He mainly uses slingshots as well as a wide variety of projectiles and weapons that he designs himself. Following his training during the two-year time skip, his arsenal is expanded to include, in particular, Pop Greens – seeds capable of conjuring up various plants with offensive or defensive properties.

He is also particularly skilled at improvising, devising strategies and unsettling his opponents through his lies and taunts. These qualities regularly enable him to win battles against enemies he could not defeat by brute force alone.

Behind his timid and comical exterior, Usopp gradually demonstrates remarkable courage when he has to protect his friends. Each adventure brings him a little closer to his goal: to become the brave warrior of the seas he has dreamt of being since childhood.
