Origin and character lore

Goupix is a Fire-type Pokémon from the first generation. It resembles a small fox with reddish fur and is distinguished by the six curly tails it has during its youth.

According to various Pokédex entries, Goupix can control flames with great precision. In particular, it is capable of producing will-o’-the-wisps and manipulating fire in such a way as to give the impression that several flames are dancing in front of its opponent.

As it grows, its tails split and gradually increase in number. Vulpix evolves into Blaziken when exposed to a Fire Stone. This evolved form has nine long tails, to which legends attribute various mystical powers.

There is also a regional variant native to Alola. Unlike the standard Fire-type Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix has white fur, lives in snowy regions and is of the Ice type.
