This commemorative edition celebrates 40 years of Saint Seiya and marks the completion of the Divine Warriors from the Asgard arc in the Saint Cloth Myth EX range.

Hagen is depicted wearing his Beta Merak divine armour, recognisable by its large metal components, horned helmet and colour scheme blending silver, blue and red. The armour can be fitted onto the figure or assembled separately on the stand provided to recreate its ‘Object’ form.

This new edition utilises an EX METAL body, incorporating cast metal components to enhance stability, joint strength and the ability to hold various poses. The proportions and articulation system allow the character’s combat poses to be recreated whilst maintaining the imposing appearance of his God Robe.

Four interchangeable faces are included, including a new smiling or defiant expression specially designed for this version. An alternative hairpiece, movable torso parts and several hands also allow for varied displays.

Character background and lore

Hagen of Merak is one of the seven Divine Warriors of Asgard appearing in the original story arc created for the Saint Seiya anime series. He guards one of the seven Sapphires of Odin required by the Bronze Saints to free Princess Hilda of Polaris.

Hagen is associated with the star Beta Merak. His God Robe is inspired by an eight-legged horse and features a massive design comprising metal plates, horns and armour suited to the extreme environments of Asgard.

Since childhood, Hagen has harboured deep feelings for Freya, Hilda’s younger sister. He trains intensively to become powerful enough to protect her and has developed absolute loyalty to the kingdom of Asgard.

Hagen masters two opposing types of energy. In freezing environments, he uses Universe Freezing, an attack capable of concentrating intense cold against his opponent.

He has also trained in the volcanic caverns of Asgard, where he has learnt to withstand extreme temperatures. In this environment, he can employ Great Ardent Pressure, a technique based on immense heat and pressure.

This dual mastery of fire and ice makes Hagen a particularly dangerous fighter. He exploits the terrain to weaken his opponents and forces them to face climatic conditions to which he himself is perfectly adapted.

During his clash with Hyoga the Swan, Hagen discovers that Freya is supporting the Bronze Saints and is trying to save Hilda. Convinced that she has been manipulated, he refuses to abandon his duty and engages in an intense duel with Hyoga.

Their battle pits two masters of the cold against each other, but also takes place in a volcanic cave where Hagen holds a significant advantage. Hyoga must push himself beyond his limits to withstand his attacks and protect Freya.

This commemorative edition marks Hagen’s inclusion in the Saint Cloth Myth EX range, featuring a modernised EX METAL body. It thus brings together the entire roster of Asgard’s Divine Warriors in a harmonised format, forty years after the debut of Saint Seiya.
