Origin and character background
Wendy Testaburger is one of the most important and recurring female characters in the famous American satirical animated series *South Park*, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in 1997. A Year 4 pupil at South Park Primary School, she stands out radically from most of the other children in the town due to her great maturity, precocious intelligence and strong civic commitment. Often portrayed as the voice of reason and the moral compass of the community, Wendy does not hesitate to champion political, feminist and environmental causes with relentless fervour, even if it means getting into memorable clashes with Eric Cartman. Also known for her tumultuous romantic relationship with Stan Marsh, this big-hearted activist perfectly embodies social conscience amidst the chaos and absurd humour of the series.
