Wield the power of the dark side with this Force FX Elite electronic lightsaber featuring Maul, designed by Hasbro as part of the premium Star Wars The Black Series range. Inspired by the weapon wielded by Maul in the animated series Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, this replica combines a detailed metal hilt with a glowing red blade and sound effects from the Star Wars universe.

The hilt echoes the more compact and streamlined design of the lightsaber used by Maul after the Clone Wars. Its dark, metallic and red finishes reflect the Zabrak warrior’s visual identity, whilst offering a level of detail suitable for display and adult cosplay.

The red blade utilises an advanced LED system that produces a gradual lighting effect. Sound effects accompany the activation and movements of the lightsaber, whilst blade clashes trigger light and sound reactions designed to enhance immersion. Hasbro presents this model as one of the most realistic reproductions available in the Force FX Elite range.

The lightsaber comes with a display stand allowing it to be displayed vertically or horizontally, depending on the chosen setup. An adapter is also provided to connect two Maul lightsabers and recreate a double-bladed weapon. The second lightsaber is sold separately.

A hex key and instructions are included to facilitate the assembly of the various components. The electronic mechanism requires three 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries, which are not included.

Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Maul is a Zabrak warrior from Dathomir, trained in the dark side by Darth Sidious. First appearing in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, he immediately stands out due to his red and black skin, his horns and his double-bladed lightsaber.

During his confrontation with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo, Maul manages to kill Qui-Gon before being defeated and cut in two by Obi-Wan. Long presumed dead, he survives thanks to his hatred and his mastery of the dark side.

Found years later by his brother Savage Opress, Maul reconstructs his body and seeks revenge on those he holds responsible for his downfall. He founds the Shadow Collective, a criminal alliance bringing together several influential syndicates from across the galaxy.

Maul also manages to seize control of Mandalore after defeating Pre Vizsla. He then retains the Black Sabre for a time and uses the chaos caused by the Clone Wars to expand his power.

Following the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, Maul continues his schemes far from the major centres of power. Maul – Shadow Lord explores this period during which he seeks to rebuild his criminal organisation on a planet still untouched by Imperial authority.

The lightsaber depicted in this replica features a single-bladed design. However, using the adapter provided, two replicas can be joined together to recreate the iconic double-bladed weapon associated with Maul since his first appearance.
