Origin and character background

Stitch, also known asExperiment 626, is an alien creature created by the scientist Jumba Jookiba. Designed to be extremely strong, resilient and destructive, he escapes and ends up on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

There he meets Lilo Pelekai, a young girl who mistakes him for a dog and adopts him. Through his time with Lilo and her sister Nani, Stitch gradually discovers friendship, affection and the meaning of the Hawaiian word ‘ohana’, which means that no one should be abandoned or forgotten.

Initially uncontrollable and boisterous, Stitch becomes a full member of the family. His blue appearance, large ears and mischievous nature have made him one of the most popular Disney characters.
