Origin and background of the Hellfire Club (Lore)

In the fourth series of Stranger Things, the Hellfire Club is the Dungeons & Dragons club at Hawkins High School. It is led by Eddie Munson, who also acts as the game master. Dustin Henderson, Mike Wheeler and several other pupils meet there to take part in role-playing campaigns in an atmosphere heavily inspired by fantasy and 1980s heavy metal culture.

Eddie Munson is initially portrayed as an outsider and a troublemaker, but as the story unfolds, his courage and loyalty to his friends gradually come to the fore. The Hellfire Club’s demonic emblem, featured on the group’s famous T-shirts, has thus become one of the most recognisable symbols of Season 4 and the Stranger Things universe.
