ORIGIN AND BACKSTORY OF THE CHARACTER
Introduced in the second season of the Netflix series created by the Duffer brothers, Maxine "Max" Mayfield is a Californian teenager who moves to Hawkins with her blended family. Quickly becoming part of the main group of friends, she is characterised by her independence, her protective cynicism and her skateboarding skills. This specific version, titled "Headphones", refers directly to the events of season 4, where she becomes the target of the evil entity Vecna. To escape his deadly psychological grip, Max constantly uses her cassette player and headphones to listen on repeat to her favourite song, Kate Bush’s“Running Up That Hill”, transforming this audio accessory into a symbol of survival and resilience within the series.
