This legendary duo is directly inspired by the science-fiction film Star Wars: Episode V –The Empire Strikes Back, released in 1980 and directed by Irvin Kershner. Whilst the Rebel Alliance had established its secret base on the ice planet Hoth, the young commander Luke Skywalker was taken by surprise during a patrol by a Wampa, a gigantic, ferocious and hairy carnivorous creature native to the frozen plains. Captured and suspended by his feet in the monster’s icy cave to be devoured, Luke consciously uses the Force for one of the very first times to pull his lightsaber towards him. He manages to free himself and slice off the snow beast’s arm just in time to escape – a memorable confrontation that marks a crucial milestone in his training as a Jedi Knight.
