Character background and lore

Itsuki Nakano is the fifth and youngest of the five Nakano sisters in *The Quintessential Quintuplets*. The anime’s official website describes her as the fifth of the quintuplets, serious and particularly hard-working, even if her efforts do not always immediately yield the results she hopes for.

She shares her daily life with her four sisters , Ichika, Nino, Miku and Yotsuba, who are all physically very similar but have very different personalities and aspirations.

The story begins when Futaro Uesugi, an exceptionally gifted sixth-former from a family of modest means, takes on a particularly well-paid job as a private tutor. He soon discovers that his new pupils are the five Nakano sisters.

Itsuki initially has a rather difficult relationship with Futaro. Serious and proud, she finds some of his mannerisms hard to tolerate and is reluctant to trust him. However, their relationship evolves as she comes to understand just how seriously he takes his role as a tutor.

Among the five sisters, Itsuki also stands out for her hearty appetite. The anime’s official profile even describes her as the most gluttonous of the quintuplets.

Academically, she is particularly diligent and has a flair for science, but has to work extremely hard to achieve the results she desires. Her official profile for the second series emphasises her serious, persevering and sometimes clumsy nature.

One of her main personal goals is directly linked to her mother. Itsuki has a deep admiration for her and wishes to follow in her footsteps by becoming a teacher.
