Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – TMNT 1st Cover Set Deluxe Art Scale 1/10 Statue – 24 cm

Celebrate the origins of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with this TMNT 1st Cover Set statue, designed by Iron Studios for the Deluxe Art Scale collection. Crafted on a 1/10 scale, this approximately 24 cm-tall piece recreates the famous cover of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

The scene brings together Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael on the rooftops of New York, ready to spring into action. Their diagonal positioning, their offensive stances and the overall composition of the group capture the raw energy of the original illustration that first introduced the four brothers to the public.

Here, the Turtles take on their appearance from the early Mirage Studios comics. They all wear red headbands and have a darker, more imposing and aggressive silhouette than in later animated adaptations. Each character is equipped with their iconic weapons: Leonardo’s katanas, Donatello’s bō staff, Michelangelo’s nunchaku and Raphael’s sai.

The four characters are positioned on a shared base depicting an urban rooftop. The brick ledges, pipes, metal structures and various architectural elements reinforce the nocturnal, clandestine atmosphere of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ early adventures. Iron Studios states that the set is crafted from high-quality resin and hand-painted.

Made from polystone, this limited-edition statue measures approximately 24 cm in height, 26 cm in width and 18.9 cm in depth. Its group format allows the four Turtles to be displayed in a single composition, directly inspired by one of the franchise’s iconic images.

Origin and universe of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Lore)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared in May 1984 in an independent comic created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and published by Mirage Studios. This first issue recounts the origin of the four Turtles and their first major clash with the Foot Clan.

Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael are four turtles transformed by a mutagenic substance. Raised in the sewers of New York by their master Splinter, they learn martial arts and become fighters tasked with combating the criminals threatening the city.

Leonardo is the disciplined leader of the group and wields two katanas. Donatello, the most scientific and thoughtful of the four brothers, fights with a bō staff. Michelangelo stands out for his laid-back nature and uses nunchaku, whilst Raphael, who is more impulsive and aggressive, fights with two sai.

In the early comics, all four Turtles wore red headbands. The colours blue, purple, orange and red, which distinguish them from one another, were later popularised by the animated series and the franchise’s numerous adaptations.

The cover reproduced by this statue has become one of the most iconic illustrations in the history of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It depicts the four brothers gathered on a rooftop, weapons drawn, in a dark and dynamic composition that encapsulates the more adult and brutal tone of the original comics.
