Character background and lore

Lara Croft’s Doppelgänger appears in Tomb Raider: Underworld. She is an artificial creature designed to replicate the adventurer’s appearance, physical abilities and reflexes. Despite her striking resemblance to Lara, this double possesses a cold personality, superior strength and, initially, total obedience to her creators.

The character was created by Natla based on research into artificial beings and supernatural doubles. Her primary objective is to eliminate Lara and carry out various missions without leaving any traces that could lead back to Natla. Thanks to her agility, stamina and speed, the Doppelgänger is one of the most dangerous adversaries the archaeologist has ever faced.

Her red hair, very pale complexion and black outfit set her apart from Lara despite their shared features. She represents an unscrupulous version of the heroine: a fighter capable of using the same techniques, but without compassion or hesitation.

The Doppelgänger’s story continues in the additional content for *Tomb Raider: Underworld*, where she begins to develop a will of her own. Her evolution allows her to move beyond her role as a mere copy and acquire a distinct identity, making her a particularly popular character amongst the franchise’s antagonists.
