Hasbro states that the system is based on a conversion armour set that allows the figure to evolve from Optimus Primal into his Optimal Optimus form.

In its Optimal Optimus form, the figure stands approximately 23 cm tall. Optimus Primal is the leader of the Maximals in Beast Wars: Transformers. Unlike Optimus Prime, to whom his name pays homage, he belongs to a later generation of Transformers and originally takes the form of a gorilla.

During Beast Wars, Optimus Primal undergoes several major transformations. Optimal Optimus represents one of his most powerful and recognisable evolutions, with a much more imposing physique and a combination of mechanical elements inherited from his various forms.

In the Power of the Primes range, Hasbro revisits this concept of evolution and integrates it directly into the figure’s design. Optimus Primal can thus don his armour to evolve into Optimal Optimus, physically illustrating his ascension to a Prime form. Hasbro also presents this edition as a celebration of the character chosen by fans in the vote organised to select the next Prime.

The Power of the Primes range is the third and final instalment of the Prime Wars Trilogy, following Combiner Wars and Titans Return. Optimal Optimus holds a special symbolic place within it, as he represents the culmination of Optimus Primal’s evolution and his access to the power associated with the Matrix of Leadership.
