Origin and background of the character
First broadcast in 1996, the Ultraman Tiga series marked a major turning point, celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary. It introduced a brand-new universe distinct from the warriors of the M78 Nebula. Tiga is a former protector of an ultra-ancient civilisation who turned into a stone statue after saving the world three million years ago. Awakened in the modern era by merging with pilot Daigo Madoka of the GUTS organisation, he is the first of his line to be able to switch between three combat modes (Multi, Sky and Power) to defeat the fearsome Kaijus and the forces of darkness.- *
