Origin and character background
Ultraman Tiga is the giant of light at the heart of the eponymous 1996 television series, a major work that revolutionised the Ultraman science fiction franchise produced by Tsuburaya Productions. Unlike his predecessors from the M78 Nebula, Tiga is a former protector of Earth from an ultra-ancient civilisation, awakened from his stone slumber in the 21st century by merging with pilot Daigo Madoka of the GUTS organisation.
