Following the cataclysm caused by Tetsuo at the end of the previous volume, an international team of scientists is set up to find a solution to the problem. Kaneda, Kei and the colonel who saved Kiyoko are reunited at the Miyako temple, which has been largely destroyed. A team is then formed to come to the aid of Choko, who is unconscious and injured somewhere in the city.

Caught up in a whirlwind of madness, intoxicated by his own power, Tetsuo invades space and forms a crater on the Moon, destroying a piece of it. To counter the man who is gradually taking on the appearance of a monster, Miyako's choice is clear: she must use Kei to channel the energy needed to confront Tetsuo.
