This edition depicts the ruler of Latveria in imposing metallic armour, complete with his hood and long green cape.

Doctor Doom is presented wearing his rigid mask, full armour and distinctive green tunic. The metal plates, mechanical joints and sculpted details on the torso and limbs highlight the blend of advanced technology and medieval aesthetics that traditionally defines the character.

The cape is made of fabric and incorporates a metal frame. It can therefore be spread out, folded back or shaped around the figure to suit different poses. Combined with the hood, it reinforces Doom’s majestic and menacing silhouette whilst preserving the mobility of the articulated body.

The set also includes interchangeable arms specially designed to recreate his famous crossed-arms stance. Two pairs of alternative hands allow for varied configurations, enabling the figure to be displayed in an authoritative stance, preparing to attack, or in a more neutral pose.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Doctor Doom, whose real name is Victor von Doom, is one of the most important antagonists in the Marvel universe. An exceptional scientist, inventor, strategist and specialist in the mystical arts, he combines extraordinary intelligence with almost boundless ambition.

Victor grew up in Latveria in difficult circumstances. From a very early age, he developed an interest in science and magic, particularly in order to understand his mother’s fate. His exceptional abilities subsequently opened the doors to an American university, where he met Reed Richards.

A deep-seated rivalry develops between the two men. Doom generally refuses to acknowledge that Reed Richards could be his superior and holds the future Mister Fantastic responsible for many of his failures. This rivalry becomes one of the recurring conflicts in the history of the Fantastic Four. Marvel thus portrays Doom as a brilliant scientist constantly pitted against the achievements of Reed Richards.

Following an accident that disfigured his face, Victor adopted a metal mask and developed a sophisticated suit of armour. This protects him from attacks, can generate force fields and enables him to use various energy weapons.

Doom then returns to Latveria, overthrows the ruling regime and becomes the country’s sovereign. He rules his territory from his castle and surrounds himself with an army of robots, including the Doombots – mechanical replicas capable of impersonating him.

Unlike many scientists in the Marvel Universe, Doctor Doom is also a master of sorcery. His occult knowledge enables him to take on characters such as Doctor Strange and to combine magic and technology in his schemes.

His objective often goes beyond mere revenge against the Fantastic Four. Doom regularly seeks to impose his authority on the entire world, convinced that his intelligence and willpower would make him the only leader capable of bringing about lasting order.

Even when acting as an adversary, the character maintains a personal code of honour and a deep attachment to Latveria. He may defend his people or temporarily collaborate with heroes when a greater threat endangers his kingdom or the fabric of reality itself.
