Isaac is the central protagonist of the independent dark fantasy roguelike video game The Binding of Isaac, designed by Edmund McMillen and expanded in its major version The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. The plot is loosely based on the biblical story of the sacrifice of Isaac: to escape his mother, who is convinced that she has received a divine message demanding the sacrifice of her son, the young boy throws himself into a trapdoor leading to the basement of his house. In this maze of procedurally generated rooms, he confronts his own fears, monstrous creatures and rejected siblings, using his tears as projectiles. The 'D6' (six-sided die) he holds here is one of the game's most powerful and iconic activatable items, allowing random changes to the items found in the rooms to optimise the character's arsenal as he progresses through the rigorous game.
