Character background and lore

C.C. is an immortal young woman who enters into a contract with Lelouch Lamperouge at the start of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. She bestows upon him the Geass, a supernatural power enabling him to impose an absolute command on anyone with whom he makes direct eye contact. In exchange, Lelouch must one day fulfil C.C.’s secret wish.

Although she appears aloof and enigmatic, C.C. nevertheless becomes one of Lelouch’s closest allies in his struggle against the Holy Empire of Britannia. She shares the burden of the Geass with him, accompanies him on his missions under the alias Zero, and pilots various Knightmare Frames herself. Her immortality, her fragmented past and her complex bond with Lelouch play a central role in the series’ storyline.
