Character background and lore
Akaza is one of the most powerful demons under the direct command of Muzan Kibutsuji. He holds the rank of Third Upper Moon, a fact also confirmed by the official cast list for the film *Infinity Castle – Akaza Returns*.
Unlike many demons who favour ranged abilities, Akaza is first and foremost a close-quarters fighter. His style is based on exceptional mastery of martial arts, phenomenal speed and a regenerative ability that allows him to take on the finest swordsmen of the Slayer Corps head-on.
He also harbours a genuine fascination for powerful opponents. Akaza despises weakness but deeply respects those who reach a high level in combat, to the point where he sometimes seeks to persuade certain remarkable humans to become demons themselves.
This philosophy is particularly evident during his clash with Kyojuro Rengoku, the Pillar of Flame. Their duel in the Infinity Train arc stands as one of the first major examples of the overwhelming power of the Upper Moons.
His story, however, takes on an even greater significance in *Infinity Castle*. Indeed, the first film in the trilogy is officially titled *Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza Returns*, directly highlighting the character’s central role in this part of the story.
In Infinity Castle, Akaza faces off against Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka. This confrontation thus brings together a Demon Slayer who has become far more powerful since their first encounter and the Water Pillar, one of the Corps’ most experienced fighters.
The battle also allows for a deeper exploration of Akaza’s past and the events that shaped the man he was before his transformation. The characters Keizo and Koyuki, who are directly linked to this past, also feature in the film’s official cast.
This tragic dimension provides a striking contrast to the character: behind the demon obsessed with power lies a human story that offers a better understanding of the origins of his convictions and his fighting style.
This Xross Link – Infinity Castle figurine therefore captures Akaza at one of the most pivotal moments of his journey: facing Tanjiro and Giyu in a battle that pits his current power against the memories and choices that have shaped his existence.
