Character origin and backstory (Lore)
Stitch, originally known as Experiment 626, is an alien creature artificially created by the scientist Jumba Jookiba. Endowed with exceptional strength, agility and intelligence, he was initially created to wreak havoc.
After arriving on Earth, Stitch meets Lilo Pelekai, a young Hawaiian girl who adopts him, thinking he is an unusual pet. Their relationship gradually transforms Stitch, who discovers the concept ofohana – family in the broadest sense – and learns to use his abilities for purposes other than destruction.
His boisterous nature, his highly expressive facial expressions and his attachment to Lilo have made Stitch one of the most popular Disney characters and one of the most frequently featured in collectable merchandise.
