Origin and background of the character
The character of Rapunzel comes from Disney Studios’ 50th animated classic, Rapunzel (Tangled), released in 2010. Loosely based on the traditional fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, the story follows the journey of a young princess with magical blonde hair twenty metres long, capable of healing wounds and bestowing eternal youth. Abducted as a child by the cruel Mother Gothel to exploit this power, she grows up confined to an isolated tower. The plot thickens when she teams up with the thief Flynn Rider to escape and fulfil her dream: to discover the origin of the mysterious floating lanterns sent into the sky every year on her birthday by the kingdom of Corona.
