Crush is the main figure. He is depicted with his broad brown and green shell, light-coloured belly and four outstretched flippers. His relaxed smile and slightly lowered eyelids capture his peaceful demeanour, whilst the position of his body gives the impression that he is gliding naturally through the water.

The carving of the shell combines several irregularly shaped plates in varying shades of green. The patterns on the head and flippers reinforce his sea turtle appearance, whilst retaining the simplified, expressive forms characteristic of the Funko style.

Beside him is Squiz, known as Squirt in the original version. This little turtle is presented in the ‘Buddy’ format, with a smaller silhouette that emphasises his young age. Origin and character lore

Crush is a sea turtle whom Marlin and Dory meet during their journey to Sydney. Aged one hundred and fifty years, he travels with a group of turtles in the East Australian Current, a powerful oceanic current that allows them to cover great distances quickly.

Unlike Marlin, who is constantly worried about Nemo’s safety, Crush takes a much more relaxed approach to parenting. He lets his son explore his surroundings, take the initiative and learn from his own experiences, whilst staying close enough to intervene should danger arise.

This attitude deeply surprises Marin. When Squiz is momentarily swept out of the current, Crush does not immediately rush to his rescue. He gives him time to find his way back on course by himself, which the young turtle does with enthusiasm. This scene helps Marin realise that he must gradually place more trust in Nemo.

Squiz is a lively, curious and particularly sociable little turtle. He welcomes Marin and Dory enthusiastically and enjoys the thrills offered by the current. His energy contrasts with Crush’s calm demeanour, but the two characters share the same trust and a strong bond.

Crush also helps Marin deliver a message to the Sydney Aquarium. Thanks to the various animals they meet along the way, the story of the clownfish crossing the ocean to find his son spreads and eventually reaches Nemo.

The relationship between Crush and Squiz therefore plays an important role in Marin’s development. It shows her that a parent can protect their child without controlling their every move, and that independence is built through experience.
