Bring the warmth of the enchanted castle into your collection with this POP! Disney No. 1824 Madame Samovar with Zip figurine, inspired by the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast. Designed by Funko, this set brings together the kind-hearted housekeeper transformed into a teapot and her young son, turned into a teacup.

Madame Samovar, known as Mrs Potts in the original version, is the centrepiece. Her white teapot shape is adorned with pink, purple, blue and gold details that echo her appearance in the animated film. Her lid takes the form of a little hat, whilst her spout and handle become the character’s natural arms.

Her smiling face is positioned on the front of the teapot. Her eyes, eyebrows and small mouth give her a gentle, motherly expression, true to her role alongside Belle and the other inhabitants of the castle. The gold trim and colourful decorations add an elegant finishing touch to this enchanted tableware.

Beside her is Zip, known as Chip in English. The young boy, transformed into a teacup, features the same white porcelain and colourful motifs as his mother. His slightly chipped rim is his distinguishing feature and directly explains his original name. Disney officially describes him as Madame Samovar’s charming son, who befriends Belle and subsequently helps her to escape.

The set stands approximately 10.7 cm tall. Funko presents the duo as a warm welcome to the Beast’s castle and as a new pair of characters designed to complete the Beauty and the Beast collection.

Origin and character lore

Madame Samovar was the housekeeper of the castle before the curse cast upon the prince transformed its inhabitants into household objects. She then took on the appearance of a teapot, whilst her son Zip became a small chipped cup.

Despite this transformation, Madame Samovar retains a warm, caring and motherly personality. She welcomes Belle kindly and quickly seeks to put her at ease in a castle where the young woman is initially held against her will. Disney portrays her as the head of the castle kitchens, adopting a protective attitude towards Belle.

Zip shares the curiosity and spontaneity typical of a young child. He takes an immediate interest in Belle, asks her lots of questions and becomes one of her first friends amongst the enchanted inhabitants. His innocence contrasts with the anxiety of the adults, who are aware that the curse could become permanent.

Madame Samovar also plays an important role in bringing Belle and the Beast closer together. She encourages the prince to be more considerate and helps with the preparations for the dinner during which the servants hope to foster a relationship between them.

Zip intervenes more directly when Belle and her father are locked up by Gaston and the villagers. Thanks to his small stature and his courage, he helps to operate Maurice’s machine and plays a part in securing their release. This action enables Belle to return to the castle before the final confrontation.

When Belle declares her love for the Beast, the curse is lifted. Mrs Samovar and Zip regain their human forms, as do Lumière, Big Ben and the other servants of the castle.

This Funko figurine highlights the family bond between the two characters. The large teapot and the matching little cup form an instantly recognisable pair, evoking both their enchanted transformation, their close bond and the warm welcome they extend to Belle.
