Character background and lore

Son Goku is a Saiyan raised on Earth and one of the greatest defenders of his universe. Passionate about martial arts, he constantly seeks to improve and face opponents capable of pushing him to his limits. His transformation into a Super Saiyan significantly increases his power and alters his appearance, notably with golden hair and turquoise eyes.

In the story involving Beerus, the God of Destruction travels to Earth in search of the Super Saiyan God. Goku then faces this opponent of a previously unknown calibre, paving the way for new transformations and battles on a scale far beyond that of Earth. The conflict between Goku and Beerus is one of the major starting points of Dragon Ball Super.
