Character background and lore

Son Goku is the main hero of Dragon Ball. Sent to Earth whilst still a child, this Saiyan grew up far from his people and developed a cheerful, generous personality and a passion for martial arts. He devotes much of his life to training and seeking out opponents capable of helping him push beyond his own limits.

In Dragon Ball Z, Goku discovers his alien origins and faces ever more powerful enemies, including Vegeta, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu. His many transformations, including the famous Super Saiyan, enable him to protect Earth, his family and his friends from threats originating from different worlds.

The symbol featured on this set is associated withthe Turtle School, led by Master Roshi. Goku wears this emblem throughout a significant part of his training and his first major adventures. It thus represents his roots as a fighter and the teachings he received from one of his first masters.
