Origin and background of the character
Created by American cartoonist Jim Davis in 1978, Garfield is a world-famous comic strip that holds the record for being the most widely published comic strip internationally. The story revolves around the daily life of Garfield, a fat, cynical orange stray cat, whose passions boil down to eating lasagne, sleeping, tormenting his owner Jon Arbuckle and the poor dog Odie, whilst displaying a legendary contempt for Mondays and diets. Known for his sarcastic remarks and jaded expressions, he is depicted here wearing a cowboy hat and a gunslinger’s outfit – a theatrical ensemble that contrasts perfectly with his total lack of physical activity. This Funko Pop! figurine adds a touch of nostalgia and perfect irony for fans of the famous coffee-loving feline.
