The third experimental unit in the RX-0 lineage, developed in secret, the Phenex is a machine of almost divine power, instantly recognisable by its gleaming golden armour and its two heavy dorsal shields (Armed Armor DE) fitted with long, articulated stabiliser tails. This variant from Bandai Hobby’s modern Cross Silhouette (SDCS) range revolutionises the chibi format by including the SD (Super Deformed Frame) base chassis as standard for a cute, stocky look, whilst remaining compatible with the CS (Cross Silhouette Frame, sold separately) to instantly transform the robot into a sleeker version with fully articulated, high-end knees and elbows.

This model prioritises visual appeal and mechanical accuracy. The outer armour features superb injection-moulded plastic in a rich, satin-finish gold shade that beautifully catches the light. The absolute highlight lies in its Psycho Frame: all the internal slots in the torso, legs and shoulders are moulded using shimmering translucent blue plastic parts to simulate the machine’s awakening. The two massive rear shields feature independent ball joints so they can be deployed aerodynamically and are fitted with the long stabiliser cables characteristic of the animated film. The robot comes ready for battle with its iconic equipment: its heavy laser rifle (Beam Magnum) and its dorsal defence arsenal.

The building experience focuses on pure mechanical enjoyment and instant results. No messy glue, no specialist tools required – all the high-precision parts snap together smoothly with a simple press, thanks to Bandai’s Snap-fit technology. The parts detach cleanly from the plastic sprues to provide crisp finishes.
