The Gunpla 40th Memorial Set offers a unique journey through time, bringing together three iconic versions of the 1/144-scale RX-78-2 Gundam in a single box. This trio provides a tangible illustration of the evolution of plastic moulding techniques, colour separation and mechanical articulation over a period of thirty years.

Three pivotal eras in the history of model-making:
The journey begins with a reissue of the very first kit from 1980 (1/144 Gundam), moulded in a single retro white colour with rudimentary joints. The collection then moves on to 2001 with the HGUC (High Grade Universal Century) version, introducing modern multi-colour moulding and flexible polycap joints. The journey culminates in the 2010 RG (Real Grade) version, a masterpiece of micro-engineering featuring a complete internal skeleton and dozens of shades of armour.

A comprehensive, museum-quality collector’s set:
Each model comes with its respective sprues and original accessories (beam rifle, lightsabres, shields). To round off this historic collection, Bandai has included a special booklet packed with illustrations and anecdotes on the evolution of model-making at the Bandai Hobby Centre factory in Shizuoka.
