Guns N’ Roses — POP! Rocks No. 514 Axl Rose ‘Live and Let Die’

Relive Axl Rose’s stage energy from the early 1990s with this POP! Rocks No. 514 figurine, inspired by Guns N’ Roses’ performance of ‘Live and Let Die ’. Designed by Funko, it depicts the singer in an iconic outfit from the Use Your Illusion era, microphone in hand and ready to take the stage by storm.

Axl Rose is depicted with his long red hair, styled loosely around his face, and a large pair of black sunglasses. This combination creates an instantly recognisable silhouette and captures the theatrical look the singer adopted during Guns N’ Roses concerts.

The figurine wears an open black jacket that reveals his torso and a cross-shaped pendant. Around his waist, a red tartan-patterned garment is a direct reference to the kilt regularly worn by Axl Rose during the Use Your Illusion tour. Dark shorts or trousers, grey socks and black shoes complete the outfit.

The singer holds a black microphone in his right hand, whilst his other arm remains slightly bent. His posture – legs apart and body leaning forwards – suggests an energetic performance rather than a simple static portrait. The manufacturer’s image notably confirms the black glasses, the open jacket, the red tartan and the microphone.

The artist’s background and career

Axl Rose, born William Bruce Rose Jr., is an American singer and songwriter best known as the frontman of Guns N’ Roses. He is the only member to have remained consistently associated with the band since its formation in 1985 and has made a name for himself through his exceptionally wide vocal range, intense performances and unpredictable stage presence.

Guns N’ Roses achieved international success in the late 1980s with *Appetite for Destruction*. The band then developed a broader musical approach with the two *Use Your Illusion* albums, released in 1991. These albums combine hard rock, ballads, piano, orchestral arrangements and reworked covers.

‘Live and Let Die’ was originally a song composed by Paul and Linda McCartney for the James Bond film *Live and Let Die*, released in 1973. Guns N’ Roses offered a much harder and more explosive cover version on the album *Use Your Illusion I* in 1991.

The song quickly became a regular feature of the band’s live sets. Performances recorded in 1991, notably at the Ritz Theatre in New York, showcase Axl Rose’s vocal power and the spectacular treatment the track received on stage.

During the Use Your Illusion tour, Axl Rose adopted a highly recognisable style combining shorts, tartan kilts, open jackets, sunglasses and religious accessories. These outfits, combined with his running about on stage and his expressive movements, played a major part in shaping his public image.
