His power was shattered on 31 October 1981 when he attempted to murder baby Harry Potter: Lily Potter's sacrifice of love caused the death spell to rebound, reducing the Dark Mage to a bodiless entity. After ten years of exile and weakness, he managed to infiltrate Hogwarts by parasitizing the mind of Professor Quirinus Quirrell in order to obtain the Philosopher's Stone. This figurine immortalises the face of the absolute nemesis of 'The Survivor', whose mere name inspires extreme revulsion in the wizarding community.
