Origin and character background
The Triwizard Tournament is a historic magical competition established in Europe, pitting the three most important magical educational institutions against one another: Hogwarts School (United Kingdom), Beauxbatons Academy (France) and Durmstrang Institute (Eastern Europe). Revived during Harry Potter’s fourth year at school after a long hiatus, this competition assesses the skills, daring and magical abilities of candidates selected impartially by the Goblet of Fire. This edition is notable for the exceptional selection of an unexpected fourth champion. The rightful winner of the event is traditionally rewarded with the Triwizard Cup.
