Origin and background of the character
Harry James Potter is the only son of James Potter and Lily Evans. Nicknamed ‘The Boy Who Lived’, he is world-famous for being the only known human to have survived the Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra) cast by the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort. From this historic confrontation, a famous lightning-shaped scar remains etched on his forehead. Raised in harsh conditions by the Dursleys in a cupboard under the stairs, he joined Hogwarts at the age of eleven, sorted into Gryffindor House, where he formed an inseparable trio with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. His original wand is made of holly and has a core consisting of a phoenix feather from the same bird as that of his arch-enemy.
