Dean Thomas is a Hogwarts student in Gryffindor House, in the same year as Harry Potter. A dormitory mate and best friend of Seamus Finnigan, he is a half-blood wizard born to a wizard father and a Muggle mother. Raised in London within the Muggle community, he was unaware of his magical heritage during his childhood, as his father had fled the family home to protect it from the Death Eaters, before being murdered by them for refusing to join their ranks. A staunch defender of the school, he joined Dumbledore’s Army and played an active role in the fighting during the Second Wizarding War.
