Character background and lore

Kyosuke Tamamo is one of the main characters in Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube. Beneath his elegant human appearance lies Tamamo, a powerful yōko – a fox spirit belonging to the great yōkai family.

Upon his arrival, Tamamo presents himself as a charming teacher and quickly becomes one of the main rivals of Meisuke Nueno, known as Nube, a teacher and exorcist tasked with protecting his pupils from supernatural phenomena. Tamamo is particularly skilled in powerful illusion techniques and attacks involving the spiritual fire of the yōko.

Initially driven by his own goals and relatively indifferent to the fate of humans, he shares a complex relationship with Nube, characterised by rivalry, clashes and mutual respect. As the story unfolds, his experiences alongside Nube and the pupils at Dōmori School gradually lead him to change his perception of humanity.

This contrast between his refined appearance, his cold demeanour and his immense supernatural power makes Kyosuke Tamamo one of the most memorable characters in the Hell Teacher universe.
