Yuta Okkotsu is the central protagonist of the prequel manga Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (originally entitled The Tokyo School of Exorcism), written and drawn by Gege Akutami, then adapted into an internationally successful animated feature film. As a teenager haunted by the vengeful spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto, who died tragically, Yuta unconsciously generates an extremely destructive upper-class curse. To learn how to control this power and avoid execution by the authorities of the occult world, he is taken under the wing of the powerful sorcerer Satoru Gojo and joins Tokyo's exorcism school. There he learns weapons handling and the art of Jujutsu alongside his comrades Maki, Toge and Panda, quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising and formidable exorcists of his generation.
