In the animated prequel film *Jujutsu Kaisen 0*, Yuta Okkotsu is a deeply traumatised teenager, haunted by the all-powerful and vengeful spirit of his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, who died tragically before his eyes in a road accident. This entity, nicknamed the ‘Queen of Scourges’, violently attacks anyone who dares to harm Yuta, condemning him to total isolation. Taken in by Satoru Gojo to prevent his execution by the higher occult authorities, Yuta is enrolled directly into Year 10 at the Tokyo Exorcism School. To help him channel and control the phenomenal cursed energy he shares with Rika, Gojo entrusts him with a katana through which he learns to harness his powers. By befriending Maki, Toge and Panda, Yuta finds the strength to accept himself and unleashes prodigious combat potential, establishing himself as an exceptional, top-tier exorcist capable of standing up to Suguru Geto’s declaration of world war.
