Character background and lore

In the dark and occult world of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori is a high school student with superhuman physical abilities whose life is turned upside down the day he swallows one of the cursed fingers of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Plagues, thereby becoming his vessel. Forced to enrol in the exorcism school to be monitored and trained, he develops a unique mastery of occult energy, which he channels through his devastating fists.

The term "120% Potential" refers to the state of absolute grace attained by an exorcist during the Shibuya Arc. Through the repeated and perfectly mastered use of theBlack Flash—a space-time distortion that multiplies the impact’s power tenfold—Yuji manages to break through his psychological and physical limits. In this state of battle trance, his brain activates to fully harness the potential of his occult energy, allowing him to go toe-to-toe with the most terrifying high-class scourges.
