Belle is depicted in her iconic village outfit. She wears a blue dress over a white blouse, paired with a light-coloured apron and brown shoes. Her chestnut-coloured hair is pulled back, whilst a small basket hangs from her right arm.

The Beast is wearing his ball gown, consisting of a blue jacket, a white shirt and black trousers. His face retains his grey horns, ears, beige muzzle, white fangs and thick brown fur.

Each character has its own metal ring, attached to the figurine by a short chain and a small carabiner. The two keyrings can therefore be used separately, split between two key rings, or displayed together in their packaging.

Origin and character lore

Belle is a cultured and independent young woman who lives in a small village with her father, Maurice. Passionate about reading, she dreams of discovering faraway places and refuses to conform to the expectations of Gaston, who wishes to marry her without really trying to understand her.

When Maurice goes missing, Belle sets out to find him and discovers an isolated castle. Her father is being held prisoner there by a creature known as the Beast. She agrees to take his place, sacrificing her own freedom to save Maurice’s.

The Beast was once an arrogant prince. After refusing to take in a stranger seeking shelter, he was cursed by an enchantress. He took on a monstrous appearance, whilst his servants were transformed into animated objects.

To break the spell, the prince must learn to love another person sincerely and be loved in return before the last petal of an enchanted rose falls. However, his hot-tempered nature and his isolation make this inner transformation difficult.

The relationship between Belle and the Beast begins amid fear and conflict. The young woman refuses to yield to his commands, whilst the prince has not yet learnt to express his loneliness and despair in any way other than through anger.

A turning point comes when the Beast saves Belle from a pack of wolves. She then tends to his wounds and begins to discover, beneath his exterior, a vulnerable being capable of kindness and consideration.

The scene with the birds depicted on this keyring belongs to this period of growing closeness. Belle encourages the Beast to gently approach the forest animals. Initially wary, they eventually alight upon him as he adopts a calmer demeanour. This moment visually captures the prince’s efforts to rein in his brutality and win the trust of others.

Belle’s village dress and the Beast’s blue suit thus represent two complementary facets of their story. Belle retains the simple appearance that reflects her independent personality, whilst the prince’s elegant attire accompanies his evolution towards greater sensitivity.

Disney presents the film as an adventure centred on the discovery of inner beauty, embodied by Belle and by a Beast who still possesses the soul of a prince beneath his monstrous appearance.
